GENERAL OVERVIEW

We are seeking a skilled engineering professional to provide independent technical support for intricate engineering tasks that necessitate specialized expertise and extensive experience in engineering principles. This role is crucial for the design modification, operational support, and independent evaluation of our facilities. You will also serve as a consultant to colleagues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct advanced engineering analyses and designs to support operational systems, programs, and assessments, utilizing your expertise in engineering methodologies, codes, standards, and regulatory guidelines. Work autonomously while offering advisory support on specialized engineering challenges.
  • Engage in complex problem-solving tasks that require advanced methodologies and practices. Lead small teams to address intricate issues, often without existing guidance, necessitating advanced technical skills for effective solutions.
  • Provide ongoing technical direction and mentorship to fellow engineers, facilitating their professional development.
  • Recognize the need for and initiate the creation of new policies, programs, and procedures to align with strategic goals.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory and industry standards, interpreting guidance for practical application.
  • Proactively identify potential design, quality, or operational issues and initiate corrective measures as per established processes.
As part of your role, you will be expected to support the following activities:
  • Participate in the Emergency Response Organization (ERO), including being on-call during your assigned duty periods.
  • Engage in 12-hour shifts during maintenance outages as part of our comprehensive support operations.
  • Contribute to engineering duty cycle support, including availability for call-outs during your assigned duty.
JOB DESCRIPTION

As a member of the Engineering Fix-It-Now (EFIN) team, you will play a vital role in delivering immediate engineering assistance for urgent issues and unforeseen events at our operational nuclear power facility. The EFIN team is essential for maintaining the safe and reliable functioning of the plant by swiftly addressing technical challenges, aiding maintenance efforts, and executing minor enhancements to optimize system performance.

PRIMARY DUTIES

1. Emergency Response and Troubleshooting:
  • Quickly respond to urgent issues and unforeseen events requiring immediate engineering intervention.
  • Perform real-time diagnostics and troubleshooting of electrical and instrumentation and control (I&C) systems.
  • Develop and execute immediate corrective actions to restore system functionality.
2. Maintenance Support:
  • Assist maintenance teams in resolving complex technical challenges related to electrical and I&C systems.
  • Provide technical oversight during maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
3. Design and Modification:
  • Implement minor modifications to electrical and I&C systems to improve reliability and performance.
  • Prepare design change documentation, including engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications.
4. Regulatory Compliance:
  • Ensure all activities align with nuclear regulatory standards, plant procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Engage in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
5. Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all engineering activities, including troubleshooting, maintenance support, and system modifications.
  • Prepare and present technical reports and summaries to management and regulatory authorities.
6. Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements within the EFIN team and contribute to the establishment of best practices.
  • Participate in training and professional development initiatives to remain updated with industry advancements and technologies.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Principal Engineer

A Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution and eight years of engineering experience, including one diverse assignment; OR a high school diploma or GED and a PE license obtained through accredited examination plus eight years of engineering experience and one diverse assignment.

Senior Engineer

A Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution and five years of discipline-specific engineering experience; OR a PE license obtained through accredited examination and five years of discipline-specific engineering experience. A high school diploma or GED is required.

Staff Engineer

A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited institution and at least one year of engineering experience; OR a PE license obtained through accredited examination and at least one year of engineering experience. A high school diploma or GED is required.

Engineer

A Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution or a PE license obtained through accredited examination and zero to three years of discipline-specific engineering experience. A high school diploma or GED is required.

COMPENSATION RANGE:

Principal Engineer Salary: $119,107 - $178,661

Midpoint: $148,884

Senior Engineer Salary: $103,563 - $155,345

Midpoint: $129,454

Staff Engineer Salary: $90,048 - $135,072

Midpoint: $112,560

Engineer Salary: $78,354 - $117,530

Midpoint: $97,942

Typically, selected candidates are offered a salary between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on relevant experience and qualifications, market rates, internal equity, and budgetary considerations.

Compensation will be negotiated based on each candidate's qualifications.

INCENTIVE COMPENSATION

This position is eligible for participation in our annual incentive program, with incentives based on employee performance against established metrics and company objectives.
