Organization and Program Overview:

Associated Students, Inc. (AS) serves as the official representative body for students, advocating for an enriched co-curricular experience and empowering SF State's diverse student community through a commitment to social equity and participatory governance. AS is dedicated to providing and supporting various services and programs, ensuring financial accountability, and engaging in collaborations across campus and with external partners.


Project Connect Initiative:

The Project Connect initiative (Creating Opportunities for Networking, Navigating, and Easing a College Transition) aims to empower and engage students to enhance access to higher education and support graduation for historically underrepresented and low-income communities. This program focuses on equity and social justice, striving to positively influence future generations of SF State students by sharing experiences and resources available on campus.


Role Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of the Senior Director of Education and Equity, the Project Connect Manager will oversee daily administrative functions and program operations. This includes managing the Book Loan Service, Internship, Retention, and Outreach departments. The Manager will set annual goals and priorities for events, emphasizing student engagement with Associated Students and university resources.

The Project Connect Manager will serve as a liaison for recruitment and outreach between AS and university departments, contributing to orientation and university events. Additionally, the Manager will assist the Senior Director with outreach for AS Scholarships and the planning of the annual Leadership and AS Scholarship Award Ceremony. Collaboration with other AS programs, university partners, local K-12 schools, and community organizations will be essential to develop initiatives aimed at closing the educational opportunity gap for first-generation students.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Ethnic Studies, Communications, Sociology, Psychology, or related fields.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in K-12 education, college access, or higher education, along with over two years of experience in team management.

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Experience in planning campus events, including safety and crowd management principles.
  • Proficiency in budget development and management.
  • Familiarity with the San Francisco Unified School District or other Bay Area school districts is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Financial Aid processes and Cal State Application advising is a plus.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to delegate tasks, monitor various projects, and provide support and accountability.
  • Proficient in Google Suite and capable of learning new web-based systems.

Abilities:

  • Comprehend the complexities of intersectionality and the histories of marginalized groups, particularly focusing on marginalized communities of color.
  • Willingness to enhance cross-cultural awareness and relations.
  • Learn operational procedures for the Book Loan Service distribution.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary: $55,000 - $60,000 annually
