Job Summary

UCSF Health seeks a highly skilled Program Manager to join our team at Amend at UCSF, a leading organization focused on transforming the U.S. prison system through health-first policies and practices.

The successful candidate will be responsible for expanding the Amend program, involving analytical, management, curriculum support, and program development tasks. This role requires superb writing, organization, and communication skills, along with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders including government officials, correctional staff, and advocates.

About the Role

This is a full-time contract position lasting one year from the date of hire. The Program Manager will be central to the success of the Amend program, working closely with the team to develop and implement strategies to advance jail and prison reform centered on health and humanity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement program strategies to advance health-first policies and practices in correctional facilities
  • Manage and coordinate complex projects and partnerships to achieve program objectives
  • Provide analytical and management support to the Amend team, including data analysis and program evaluation
  • Develop and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, correctional staff, and advocates
  • Collaborate with the Amend team to develop and implement curriculum and training programs for correctional staff
  • Develop and manage budgets and grants to support program activities
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, public health/policy, or a related field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, including work or living experience in a correctional facility
  • Experience in managerial or project leadership, with a proven track record of success
  • Superior professionalism and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical skills, creativity, and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and video conferencing tools
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally for program objectives
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters degree in criminal justice, public health/policy, or a related field
  • Experience in grant writing, managing budgets, and program staff
  • Background in education and/or training and moderating groups, including remote technologies
  • Familiarity with project management software
