Associated Students, Inc. (AS) represents the official voice of students at SF State, dedicated to enhancing the co-curricular experience and empowering a diverse student body through a commitment to social justice and collaborative governance. AS is involved in providing services and programs, ensuring financial responsibility, and engaging in advocacy efforts both on campus and in the community.


AS Project Connect (Creating Opportunities for Networking, Navigating, and Easing a College Transition) aims to empower and engage students, promoting higher education and facilitating graduation for low-income and historically underrepresented communities. This program focuses on equity and social justice, striving to positively influence future generations of SF State students by sharing valuable university experiences and resources.


Position Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of the Senior Director of Education and Equity, the Project Connect Manager will oversee daily administrative and programming functions. This includes managing the Book Loan Service, Internship, Retention, and Outreach departments. The Manager will set team objectives and priorities for annual events, concentrating on connecting students with AS and university resources.

The Project Connect Manager will serve as a liaison for recruitment and outreach between AS and university departments, contributing to orientation and university events. Additionally, the Manager will assist the Senior Director of Education and Equity with outreach for AS Scholarships and the planning of the annual Leadership and AS Scholarship Award Ceremony. Collaboration with other AS programs, university partners, Bay Area K-12 schools, and community organizations will be essential to develop initiatives aimed at closing the educational opportunity gap for first-generation students.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Ethnic Studies, Communications, Sociology, Psychology, or related fields.
  • A minimum of two years of professional experience in K-12, college access/readiness, or higher education, along with over two years of experience in building and managing effective teams.

Knowledge Required:

  • Event planning, safety protocols, and crowd management principles.
  • Experience in budget development and management.
  • Familiarity with the San Francisco Unified School District or other Bay Area school districts is advantageous.
  • Understanding of Financial Aid and Cal State Application processes, as well as advising or counseling college students, is a plus.

Skills Needed:

  • Strong planning abilities, capable of delegating tasks, tracking multiple projects, and providing support and accountability.
  • Proficient in Google Suite and quick to learn new web-based systems.

Abilities:

  • Comprehend the complexities of intersectionality and the histories of marginalized groups, with a focus on marginalized communities of color.
  • Willingness to enhance cross-cultural awareness and relations.
  • Ability to learn library operations for the Book Loan Service.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary: $55,000-$60,000 annually
