Job Overview

Compensation: $30/hr (Direct Hire)
- Shift Hours: 12pm to 12am (initially 12-hour shifts for 6 months, transitioning to 8-hour second shifts thereafter, with a mandatory 60-hour work week)

Objective: The primary role of the Senior Machining Supervisor is to ensure that the entire coating line operates under optimal conditions. This leader is responsible for managing the coating head of the line while guaranteeing that the equipment is maintained and operated according to production standards with minimal downtime. A comprehensive understanding of all positions within the coating line is essential for this role, which requires three to five years of relevant experience and training to fully grasp the operational and performance standards necessary for equipment management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety of all team members through proactive engagement in safety protocols and clear communication of safe work practices.
  • Investigate and address any incidents of line or equipment stoppage that pose a safety risk.
  • Adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and applicable regulations in all tasks.
  • Lead risk assessment initiatives within the area of responsibility, driving corrective and preventive actions to mitigate environmental, health, or safety risks.
  • Facilitate all necessary safety meetings (e.g., Pre-shift, Departmental, Change Management, General communication, Town Hall).
  • Conduct thorough incident investigations, perform root cause analyses, and implement corrective measures promptly.
  • Oversee the training and development of all assigned personnel.
  • Set and achieve goals for the team, ensuring all members understand and work towards these objectives.
  • Motivate and guide team members through effective communication and regular performance feedback, identifying additional training needs as necessary.


Core Job Functions:

  • Comply with all ISO quality procedures and customer specifications related to the job.
  • Review the Work Order prior to machine loading to confirm that the correct raw materials are prepared and staged.
  • Visually inspect and ensure that prepared adhesives are properly labeled and tagged.
  • Assist in manually or mechanically loading, unloading, and storing roll shafts throughout the shift.
  • Operate machine controls to jog the machine for loading, splicing, flagging, and unloading as needed.
  • Cut and splice materials as required during production runs.
  • Monitor coat weight consistently throughout the production process.
  • Inspect and flag products for defects and splices during each run.
  • Troubleshoot any web issues that arise.
  • Utilize material handling equipment to manage raw materials and products effectively.
  • Report any material or equipment issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Assist and back up other operators as necessary.
  • Delegate tasks to coating team members as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Team Leadership: Provide daily support to shift team members as needed.

  • Plan, organize, and direct team activities to meet deadlines.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to establish and enforce operational policies and procedures.


General Duties & Inventory Management:

  • Follow inventory procedures, ensuring the complete use of all cured adhesives and proper disposal of materials.
  • Complete daily reports on raw material usage and adhesive formulations as required.
  • Maintain accurate log data using appropriate inventory control systems.


Conduct Expectations:

  • Foster teamwork and maintain excellent communication to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Adhere to safety protocols at all times, including wearing PPE and reporting safety issues.
  • Be prepared for scheduled overtime and assist in covering for absent coworkers.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization in the work area.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Attend all required company meetings punctually.

Qualifications:

  • Fluency in English (speaking, reading, writing) is essential.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Familiarity with inventory control systems is preferred.
  • Previous experience operating a forklift is necessary if required for the role.

  • Must be alert, attentive, and capable of analyzing and identifying issues while managing multiple tasks under pressure.
