Role Purpose

The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for promoting our strategic HR solutions that local businesses depend on. The BDM will possess a comprehensive understanding of our sales methodology, excelling in lead generation, relationship management, and deal closure. The ideal candidate will be a fast learner with exceptional skills in prospecting and a consultative sales approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and secure new business opportunities through self-generated leads, inbound inquiries, referrals, and strategic partnerships. Maintain conversion rates from leads to opportunities and from initial meetings to closures.
  • Utilize a targeted account list to oversee the sales process from the first contact to finalization. This includes identifying, researching, and engaging key stakeholders; meeting with clients to qualify and establish rapport; developing value propositions; collecting necessary documentation for underwriting; crafting proposals and financial analyses; negotiating agreements; and closing deals.
  • Collaborate with various departments such as Sales Operations, Pricing, Implementation, Client Success, and Operations to ensure a seamless transition from sales to implementation.
  • Maintain a robust sales pipeline, ensuring that all records and key activities are accurately documented in Salesforce for effective reporting.

Qualifications We Seek

  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years in B2B or consultative sales, account management, or a similar role with quota responsibilities. Previous experience in a PEO environment is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Consultative Sales Approach: Provide a consultative experience from the initial meeting to closing. Engage with key decision-makers to understand their challenges and clearly articulate how our products and services can meet their needs.
  • Active Listening: Demonstrate the ability to accurately perceive the opinions, feelings, and needs of others. Understand the impact of one’s actions on others, exhibiting empathy and patience while allowing others to express their viewpoints.
  • Persuasive Communication: Show persuasive skills during transitions; capable of selling a vision. Charisma is a plus, but a subtle approach with quiet credibility is equally effective.

In addition to a base salary range of $85-100k, there is an opportunity to earn commissions based on an uncapped commission structure, averaging $60-90k, leading to an on-target earnings potential of $145-190k.
