Denver, Colorado, United States Obsidian HR Full time
Job Overview

About Us

At Obsidian HR, we are committed to being the premier partner for businesses in Colorado. Our goal is to empower local employers by streamlining their employee management processes and enhancing their human resources capabilities, allowing them to concentrate on their core operations and workforce.

Our Culture

We prioritize a supportive environment where our team members and clients can depend on one another. Each individual demonstrates a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and dedication to achieving both personal and collective objectives.

Role Purpose

The Business Development Manager (BDM) will be responsible for promoting our strategic HR solutions that local enterprises have come to trust. The BDM should possess a thorough understanding of our sales methodology, excelling in lead generation, relationship cultivation, and deal closure. The ideal candidate will be a quick learner with exceptional skills in prospecting and a consultative selling approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and secure new business opportunities through self-generated leads, inbound inquiries, referrals, and strategic partnerships. Maintain effective conversion rates from leads to opportunities and from initial meetings to successful closures.
  • Utilize a targeted account list to manage the sales process from the first contact to closing. This includes identifying, researching, and developing key contacts; meeting with clients to qualify and establish rapport; assessing and articulating value propositions; gathering necessary documentation for underwriting; preparing proposals and financial analyses; negotiating contracts; and finalizing deals.
  • Collaborate with various departments, including Sales Operations, Pricing, Implementation, Client Success, and Operations, to ensure a seamless transition from sales to implementation.
  • Maintain a robust sales pipeline, ensuring that all records and key activities are accurately documented in Salesforce for reporting purposes.

Candidate Profile

  • Ownership. At Obsidian, ownership is fundamental to our culture. This means treating your work, colleagues, and clients with the same care and commitment as if you were the owner of the business, consistently striving for exceptional performance that benefits the company, team, and clients.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years in B2B or consultative sales, account management, or a related field with a quota-carrying responsibility. Previous experience in a PEO environment is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Consultative Selling. Provide a consultative sales experience from the initial meeting to closing. Engage with key decision-makers to understand their challenges and clearly articulate how our products and services can meet their needs.
  • Active Listening. Demonstrate the ability to accurately perceive the opinions, feelings, and needs of others. Understand the impact of one's actions on others, showing empathy and patience while allowing others to express their viewpoints.
  • Persuasiveness. Exhibit the ability to persuade during transitions; capable of selling a vision. Charisma is a plus, but a soft-sell approach and quiet credibility are also effective.
