Job Description

The Finance Operations Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting the Corporate Finance functions, collaborating closely with Business Unit Finance leaders and Operations Business Unit leads. This position involves overseeing a team of three to six Corporate Accountants and Senior Corporate Accountants, ensuring effective management and guidance.

POSITION SUMMARY

The individual in this role will demonstrate a high level of professional expertise in general accounting tasks, possessing the ability to operate at both macro and micro levels.

Responsibilities include supervising a diverse range of financial tasks that facilitate data collection, analysis, report generation, periodic audits, and the preparation of monthly financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

The role also entails preparing analyses for special projects, including summary reporting, conducting variance analysis, and communicating findings effectively.

Working within the ProMedica Health System culture, the Finance Operations Manager will foster collaboration and synergy across departments.



ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Oversee the monthly financial closing process and related reporting for the assigned division or department, ensuring all accounting records and supporting documentation are maintained for both internal and external reporting.
  • Execute various accounting functions associated with the month-end close process to guarantee the accuracy of records and adherence to established deadlines and guidelines.
  • Review accounting records for precision and compliance with reporting standards.
  • Notify the Director of Accounting regarding any financial issues, discrepancies, or control concerns.
  • Collaborate with various departments to gather and report financial information.
  • Effectively communicate financial data across different levels of the organization.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive financial information.
  • Ensure that internal controls are properly designed and functioning effectively.
  • Research accounting issues and serve as a resource for colleagues.
  • Assist the Director of Accounting with various projects, reports, and responsibilities.
  • Support the staffing of the department with qualified personnel.
  • Plan, direct, and review the work of direct reports.
  • Foster a positive, cooperative, and supportive team culture.
  • Evaluate the performance of direct reports against individual, division, and organizational goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with the human resources department on any employee-related concerns or issues.
  • Keep the Director informed of any performance or employment matters.
  • Proactively seek opportunities for continuous learning and skill enhancement.
  • Perform any additional work assignments as required.
Job Requirements

Education:
Bachelor's Degree with a focus on Accounting or Finance

Skills:
Experience in accounting and financial reporting, coupled with strong communication abilities. Demonstrated leadership with a team-oriented approach, prioritizing effective communication with an emphasis on listening and collaboration.

Exhibit sound decision-making skills through problem analysis, alternative development, and input solicitation from others, while adhering to codification and regulations prior to arriving at a solution.

Years of Experience: 5-7 years in accounting and financial reporting, including leadership experience.

Master's Degree

Skills:
Experience in not-for-profit and/or healthcare sectors

License:
Certified Public Accountant
