Position Summary:

The Financial Operations Manager will be pivotal in guiding the accounting department across our diverse subsidiaries. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this role is accountable for comprehensive financial planning, management, and administrative functions within the organization, which includes logistics, real estate, dining, and construction sectors. Responsibilities will span accounting, general ledger oversight, treasury functions, risk management, and cash flow management. This position will collaborate with business unit accounting personnel and work closely with executive leadership to enhance operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Planning, Management, and Reporting:

  • Partner with the CFO to analyze and evaluate the organization's financial performance concerning long-term operational objectives, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Offer insights and recommendations for the strategic planning and organization of both short-term and long-term growth initiatives.
  • Identify, acquire, and implement financial systems and software to deliver essential financial and operational data.
  • Assess departmental structures for efficiency and effectiveness, proposing process enhancements as necessary.
  • Provide financial analysis and guidance to support business decisions and growth strategies.
  • Monitor financial performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Develop and report key performance indicators (KPIs) that enhance the focus and performance of the finance team and business units.

Accounting Oversight:

  • Lead and manage the accounting team, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the accounting teams through effective leadership and guidance.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax laws, and internal policies.

General Ledger Management:

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts for all subsidiaries.
  • Review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Supervise the preparation and timely submission of all local, state, and federal tax returns.
  • Oversee the month-end closing process to ensure timely reporting and departmental efficiency.

Treasury and Risk Management:

  • Manage cash flow, including forecasting and optimization strategies.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks by establishing robust internal controls.
  • Utilize forward-looking models and activity-based analyses to provide financial insights into the organization's plans and budgets.

Cash Management:

  • Monitor daily cash positions and manage external banking relationships.
  • Supervise accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely collections and accurate reporting.
  • Reconcile and report intercompany balances, recommending improvements as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; MBA or CPA certification is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in a senior accounting or finance role, ideally within a multi-company framework.
  • Strong understanding of financial management, accounting principles, and regulations.
  • 10+ years of experience in Accounting and Finance, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management abilities, with a proven track record of building strong teams and relationships.
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems.
  • Solid technical knowledge of GAAP and tax accounting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
