Position Summary:

The Financial Operations Manager will be instrumental in guiding the accounting department across our diverse subsidiaries. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role is accountable for comprehensive financial planning, management, and administrative functions for the organization, including logistics, real estate, dining, and construction sectors. This position covers critical areas such as accounting oversight, general ledger management, treasury and risk management, and cash flow optimization. The manager will collaborate with business unit accounting staff and executive leadership to enhance operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Planning, Management, and Reporting:

  • Work closely with the CFO to evaluate the financial health of the organization in relation to long-term operational objectives, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Offer insights and recommendations for the strategic planning and organization of both short-term and long-term goals.
  • Identify and implement systems and software that provide essential financial and operational data.
  • Assess departmental structures for efficiency and effectiveness, suggesting process enhancements as necessary.
  • Deliver financial guidance and analysis to inform business decisions and growth strategies.
  • Monitor financial performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary policies and procedures.
  • Develop and report key performance indicators (KPIs) that drive focus and performance within the finance organization and business units.

Accounting Oversight:

  • Lead and manage the accounting team, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the accounting teams through effective leadership.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies.

General Ledger Management:

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts for all subsidiaries.
  • Review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Oversee the timely preparation and filing of all local, state, and federal tax returns.
  • Manage the month-end close process to ensure timely reporting and departmental efficiency.

Treasury and Risk Management:

  • Oversee cash flow management, including forecasting and optimization.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks through robust internal controls.
  • Utilize predictive models and activity-based analyses to provide financial insights into the organization's plans and budgets.

Cash Management:

  • Monitor daily cash positions and manage external banking relationships.
  • Supervise accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely collections and reporting.
  • Reconcile and report intercompany balances, recommending improvements where necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; MBA or CPA certification is highly preferred.
  • Extensive experience in a senior accounting or finance role, ideally within a multi-company framework.
  • Strong understanding of financial management, accounting principles, and regulations.
  • 10+ years of experience in Accounting and Finance, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with a proven ability to build and maintain strong teams and relationships.
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP and tax accounting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
