Position Overview:
The Greenhouse Gas Assessment Program Coordinator is responsible for leading statewide planning initiatives focused on the implementation of the Greenhouse Gas and Vehicle Miles Traveled Impact Assessment Program. This role is crucial in evaluating emissions impacts resulting from project and program decisions, and in developing strategies to mitigate these impacts through multimodal transportation investments and voluntary land use decisions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the development of assessments for emissions impacts related to all capacity expansion projects as mandated by legislation.
  • Facilitate and coordinate the Transportation Impact Assessment Technical Advisory Committee alongside MnDOT staff to establish an emissions offset process.
  • Implement a stakeholder engagement strategy, bringing together state agencies, external partners, industries, and other stakeholders.
  • Occasional travel within the state may be required for meetings.

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
Applicants should possess a minimum of three years of advanced professional experience in transportation planning, demonstrating the following competencies:
  • Experience in applying performance-based transportation planning or energy planning practices.
  • Proven ability to lead and facilitate discussions among internal and external stakeholder groups.
  • Strong research and analytical skills to identify trends and inform decision-making.

Preferred Qualifications:
A bachelor's or master's degree in Planning, Geography, Urban Studies, Sociology, or Political Science is highly desirable. Certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is also preferred.
