Job Title: Genomics Technologist III

At BioReference Labs, we are seeking a highly skilled Genomics Technologist III to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will play a critical role in providing testing services to our clients.

Job Summary:

The Genomics Technologist III will work collaboratively with our laboratory team to perform laboratory testing in the detection, diagnosis, and prognosis of disease. Under the general supervision of a Cancer Genomics Supervisor/Manager, you will be responsible for performing laboratory procedures, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring the quality of our testing services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Follow established laboratory procedures for the correct handling and processing of clinical specimens.
  • Perform laboratory procedures of low, moderate, and high complexity in accordance with standards set forth in sectional laboratory procedures.
  • Perform secondary review of laboratory results before final submission to pathologists.
  • Maintain an up-to-date working knowledge of all technical procedures in the department and operations of all instrumentation.
  • Report any issues that may influence data quality or turnaround time.
  • Meet continuing education requirements and document completion within our laboratory information system.
  • Review communications logs and emails daily.
  • Operate laboratory instruments, perform routine maintenance, and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
  • Perform proficiency testing according to protocol.
  • Maintain a clean and well-organized work area with adequate supplies and controls.
  • Properly label, date, and initialize reagents and consumables.
  • Accurately read and interpret test orders, record, and maintain patient test results.
  • Review accuracy and completeness of work, recognizing unexpected or unreasonable results and taking appropriate action.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or a related life science field. You must also be able to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team, demonstrating strong interpersonal and communication skills.
