Job Summary and ResponsibilitiesPosition Summary:
Under general supervision, the CT Technician I operates Cat Scan equipment, positions patients appropriately to obtain diagnostic images, and performs related tasks.
Patient Population:
Core competencies will be assessed primarily on imaging for various conditions, including cardio-pulmonary, vascular, neuro, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, gynecological, and musculoskeletal issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilizes C.T. equipment to produce radiographic images of specific body areas, ensuring proper patient positioning and equipment adjustments.
- Conducts image reconstruction and special data processing, evaluating the quality of completed scans.
- Monitors patients closely, providing first aid as needed, and communicates with physicians regarding any discrepancies in patient conditions.
- Performs clerical duties, including managing patient records and exam requisitions.
- Maintains accurate records and ensures proper identification of imaging results.
- Exhibits exemplary customer service and professionalism in all interactions.
- Implements immobilization techniques to ensure patient comfort and precise positioning.
- Stays informed about advancements in diagnostic imaging through ongoing education and training.
- Adheres to sterile techniques and maintains a clean and safe work environment.
- Complies with radiation safety standards and participates in quality improvement initiatives.
- Records hours worked accurately in accordance with hospital policies.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Required Licensure/Certifications:
- ARRT (R) certification
- Texas Medical Board certification as a Medical Radiologic Technologist
- Current CPR certification
- ARRT (CT) Credential (to be obtained within one year)
Required Education/Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology
Preferred Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of anatomy, positioning, radiographic techniques, and radiation safety practices.
- Familiarity with radiographic physics and medical terminology.
- Ability to assess exposure factors for optimal imaging with minimal patient exposure.
- Skill in evaluating radiographs for quality and accuracy.
- Strong judgment and discretion in patient interactions.
- Competence in positioning patients and adjusting equipment effectively.
- Proficiency in operating Cat Scan equipment safely and efficiently.
- Willingness to innovate and improve techniques within the department.
