About Our Houston Campus

Our advanced campus located north of Houston houses our Upstream, Product Solutions, and Low Carbon Solutions sectors along with their support teams. Opened in 2014, this facility accommodates over 10,000 employees and visitors.

By uniting various global functional teams, the campus equips employees with the necessary tools and capabilities to achieve business goals and accelerate the exploration of new resources, technologies, and products. It was designed to promote collaboration, creativity, and innovation, enhancing our ability to attract and retain top talent in the industry.

Role Overview
  • The Procurement Category Manager for Wells Services is responsible for driving value and efficiency through comprehensive category management, from strategy formulation to execution, while ensuring operational integrity and fostering talent development.
  • This position oversees the Wells Services Procurement portfolio for our global Conventional Wells operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Offer category and commercial guidance to Contract Leads within the Wells category.
  • Act as a representative for Procurement in category networks and maintain Category Planning knowledge resources.
  • Translate business strategies into effective commercial acquisition strategies that yield business value.
  • Develop and manage category-specific business value and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Ensure the integration of category strategies into various agreements and broader procurement frameworks using templates and tools.
  • Enhance business and category expertise for all participants in the category network.
  • Communicate category strategies to Contract Leads, Contract Managers, Procurement Managers, Business Line Representatives, and Procurement process owners.
  • Assist in the development and execution of Procurement Plans in collaboration with Senior Procurement management.
  • Ensure that category terms and conditions are appropriate for their intended purpose.
  • Review and approve process documents such as Procurement Plans, Agreement Awards, and Bid Evaluations.
  • Lead or support key supplier relationship engagements and participate in operational business reviews.
  • Provide performance insights, mentoring, and feedback for intra-category Contract Leads.
  • Assist Contract Leads in negotiations regarding terms and conditions.
Candidate Profile

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Expertise in procurement and commercial functions.
  • Familiarity with the Oil & Gas, Drilling, and Completions sectors.
  • Proven ability to identify and leverage industry-leading information.
  • Capability to recognize and incorporate new insights to create opportunities.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Analytical skills with an understanding of total system cost concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to advocate and influence across all organizational levels.
  • Strategic thinking and relevant Supplier Relationship Management experience.
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to lead virtual teams.
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency and personal accountability.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related business field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 10 years of procurement experience in the Oil and Gas industry.
  • Experience in international business.
  • Strong negotiation, advocacy, and influencing skills, particularly in terms and conditions negotiations.
  • Familiarity with the Purchase-to-Pay process.
  • Experience with procurement methodologies including RFIs, competitive bids, and auctions.
  • Proven skills in project planning and execution.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning systems.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement in business processes.
