About the Houston Campus

ExxonMobil's advanced campus located north of Houston is home to its Upstream, Product Solutions, and Low Carbon Solutions divisions, along with their respective service teams. Opened in 2014, this facility accommodates over 10,000 employees and visitors.

Role Overview
  • The Category Manager for Wells Services is responsible for maximizing value and efficiency while enhancing market competitiveness through comprehensive category management, from strategy formulation to execution, ensuring operational integrity and workforce development.
  • This position oversees the Wells Services Procurement portfolio for our Conventional Wells operations on a global scale.
Key Responsibilities
  • Offer category and commercial insights to Contract Leads within the Wells category.
  • Act as a representative for Procurement in category networks and maintain Category Planning knowledge repositories.
  • Translate business objectives into commercial acquisition strategies that generate business value.
  • Develop and manage category-specific business value and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Ensure effective implementation of category strategies across various agreements and broader procurement plans using established templates and tools.
  • Foster and maintain business and category expertise among all category network participants.
  • Communicate category strategies to Contract Leads, Contract Managers, Procurement Managers, Business Line Representatives, and Procurement process owners.
  • Assist in the development and execution of Procurement Plans in collaboration with Senior Procurement management.
  • Ensure that category terms, conditions, and processes are appropriately tailored.
  • Review and approve process documents such as Procurement Plans, Agreement Awards, and Bid Evaluations.
  • Lead or support key supplier relationship engagements and participate in operational business reviews.
  • Provide performance feedback, mentoring, and guidance for intra-category Contract Leads.
  • Assist Contract Leads in negotiations regarding terms and conditions.
Candidate Profile

Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • Expertise in procurement and commercial functions.
  • Experience or familiarity with the Oil & Gas, Drilling, and Completions sectors.
  • Proven ability to identify, capture, and apply industry-leading insights.
  • Capability to recognize and leverage new information or insights to create opportunities.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Analytical skills with an understanding of total system cost concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to advocate and influence across all organizational levels.
  • Strategic thinking and relevant Supplier Relationship Management experience.
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to lead virtual teams.
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency and personal accountability.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related business field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 10 years of procurement experience in the Oil and Gas industry.
  • International business experience.
  • Strong negotiation, advocacy, and influencing skills, particularly in terms and conditions negotiations.
  • Experience with the Purchase-to-Pay process.
  • Familiarity with procurement methods, including RFIs, competitive bids, and auctions.
  • Proven skills in project planning and execution.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning systems.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement in business processes.
