Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Elementary Education Specialist to join our team at the Alabama Department of Education. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a learning environment that allows students to succeed academically in accordance with system core values, goals, and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instructional Leadership: Implement an effective educational program for the assigned grade level and subject area(s) using the required course of study, appropriate resources, and materials, and research-based instructional practices.
  • Technology Integration: Utilize technology to plan and provide instruction and facilitate student learning. Model appropriate and innovative use of technology for students.
  • Student Support: Provide modifications for students with special needs, including exceptional education students and students who have limited proficiency in English as required.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Use formative and summative assessment to monitor student progress; interprets and uses data for instructional planning and program evaluation.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate high learning expectations for all students and establishes learning targets that are relative to real-world experiences. Foster student responsibility, appropriate social behavior, integrity, valuing of cultural diversity, and respect for self and others through role modeling and learning activities.
  • Professional Development: Engage in personal professional growth, adheres to professional standards, and demonstrates professional ethics, sound judgment, and leadership.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Valid Professional Educator Certificate
