Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Operations Manager is accountable for overseeing all facets of the operational functions, which include housekeeping, overnight cleaning, and stewarding departments. The primary goal is to ensure an exceptional guest experience through the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and sanitation across all areas, including guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Oversight:

  • Conduct pre-shift meetings for housekeeping staff to align on daily objectives.
  • Perform daily inspections of rooms to uphold cleanliness and service excellence.
  • Respond promptly to guest requests and guide the housekeeping team in maintaining a pristine environment.
  • Facilitate effective communication within the operations team to ensure clarity of goals and priorities.
  • Monitor staff performance and provide direction on daily tasks and responsibilities.
  • Ensure comprehensive training for new hires to meet established performance benchmarks.
  • Foster a positive and dynamic work atmosphere that promotes outstanding guest service.
  • Collaborate with maintenance to address repair needs in various areas.
  • Maintain ongoing dialogue with management regarding operational challenges.
  • Propose and implement improvements to enhance service quality and operational efficiency.
  • Act as a point of contact for resolving guest complaints and concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and security protocols.
  • Manage procurement of housekeeping supplies in a timely manner.

Personnel Management:

  • Create and manage weekly staff schedules, adjusting as necessary to optimize labor costs while maintaining standards.
  • Ensure timely posting of schedules and communicate any changes to staff promptly.
  • Recruit, train, and evaluate team members, providing coaching and support as needed.
  • Address employee concerns and conduct investigations into workplace issues.
  • Monitor attendance and punctuality, addressing any issues as they arise.
  • Complete necessary documentation for employee status changes.
  • Initiate and oversee special projects and team-building activities.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in housekeeping or hospitality is required.
  • Supervisory experience of at least 2 years is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • Proficient in basic computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk throughout the day while inspecting rooms.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying items up to 50 lbs. as needed.
  • Ability to work in varying temperature conditions.
