Position Overview
As a Lead Insurance Compliance Examiner for the State of Vermont, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and conducting examinations of captive insurance entities registered in Vermont.

Key Responsibilities
Your primary duties will involve:

  • Leading a team of examiners in assessing various aspects of captive insurance operations, including governance, strategic planning, business models, IT infrastructure, internal controls, financial disclosures, and adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Performing ongoing surveillance and evaluations for a designated portfolio of captive insurance companies.
  • Utilizing a risk-based methodology to ensure comprehensive reviews and effective oversight.

Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • A graduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline with at least two years of relevant experience in accounting, auditing, or financial examination, including two years focused on insurance operations and supervisory roles.
  • Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of four years of relevant experience, including two years in insurance operations and supervisory responsibilities.
  • Experience as an Insurance Examiner III may also qualify.

Preferred Credentials
Possession of professional designations such as AFE (Accredited Financial Examiner), CFE (Certified Financial Examiner), or CPA (Certified Public Accountant) is highly desirable.

Special Requirements
Employees engaged in financial examinations are expected to obtain the CFE designation within 48 months of employment.
