Position Summary:
The role of the Civil/Structural Engineer involves delivering design services that support projects related to Substation and Transmission Engineering for High Voltage Electric facilities. This position collaborates with various project leads, client engineering teams, construction managers, and external vendors.

Key Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating with the project team to create or modify civil and structural design documents.
  • Developing detailed drawings for steel structures and foundations.
  • Utilizing engineering software for structural steel and foundation design.
  • Ensuring adherence to project-specific standards and efficient design processes.
  • Performing engineering functions to meet project timelines.
  • Coordinating project activities with clients, project teams, and management.
  • Applying engineering standards, including NESC, ASCE, IBC, AISC, and ACI.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation through the document management system.
  • Taking ownership of the quality and precision of work.
  • Traveling as necessary for project requirements.
  • Executing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution or an equivalent degree with relevant experience.
  • Licensure as a professional engineer or the ability to obtain licensure within one year of employment.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in concrete and steel structural engineering, preferably within the electric utility sector.

Preferred Skills:
The successful candidate will have experience in:

  • Designing cantilevered utility structures, towers, and single-story masonry buildings, along with their foundations.
  • Understanding steel and concrete design principles and structural analysis.
  • Familiarity with substation and transmission line components.
  • Proficiency in engineering software such as RISA 3D, PLS-Tower, or STAAD Pro.
  • Knowledge of engineering standards and civil/structural design documentation.

Physical Requirements:
This position involves minimal physical effort, primarily requiring prolonged periods of sitting and computer work. Occasional outdoor exposure may occur, and travel for training or meetings may be necessary.
