Role Objective

The Civil Project Engineer will proficiently oversee various engineering projects, managing competing deadlines and resources effectively. This role necessitates collaboration across diverse functional teams, including Development, Engineering, Accounting, Financial Planning, and Legal, while reporting directly to the Associate Director of Civil Engineering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design of civil engineering features for large-scale solar generation facilities, including grading plans, access roads, and modifications to support structures.
  • Work closely with the electrical engineering team to coordinate and optimize array layouts, considering different topographical and site constraints.
  • Prepare construction plansets and maintain AutoCAD template files.
  • Implement revisions based on feedback from Engineers, Developers, and local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
  • Analyze Geotechnical and Wetland Delineation Reports to facilitate cost-effective solar facility deployment.
  • Generate cut/fill plans and quantities using AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar software to ensure compliance with mounting system slope tolerances and optimize foundation material costs.
  • Contribute to the development and management of the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), along with erosion and dust control measures for each project.
  • Interpret and clarify project documentation, ensuring all permit and site requirements are met through a value-driven design approach.
  • Research and propose methods to comply with DOT, utility, stormwater, and erosion control regulations for various state and county AHJs.
  • Support the Civil Engineering team during formal project design reviews and Investment Committee presentations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Civil Engineering.
  • EIT Certification is required, with preference for candidates pursuing Professional Engineering licensure.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Experience with MIDS/P8/Winslam is preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with HEC-RAS or Flo2D modeling is a plus.
  • Experience using Google Earth or other mapping/GIS tools, along with online and public resources such as federal/state/county databases.
  • Competence in site grading and drainage calculations, plan preparation, and hydrology calculations.
  • Hands-on surveying experience is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide efficient and reliable service to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
