Position Overview
The Floor Maintenance Specialist is tasked with the comprehensive upkeep of both hard surface and carpeted areas. Utilizing specialized power equipment, this role encompasses various cleaning processes including stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, extraction, and bonneting across diverse environments such as offices, patient rooms, classrooms, corridors, lobbies, entrances, stairwells, and cafeterias.

Key Responsibilities
1. Conduct preventative maintenance checks on all equipment before use.
2. Secure the work area and display appropriate safety notices for others prior to commencing tasks.
3. Execute floor care duties, including routine mopping (both dry and damp), buffing, and burnishing on hard surfaces and stairwells.
4. Perform vacuuming, shampooing, bonneting, and extraction of carpets, stairwells, and upholstery.
5. Carry out wall cleaning and dusting tasks (high and low).
6. Maintain cleanliness in restrooms and routine cleaning in offices and classrooms.
7. Ensure the upkeep of floor care equipment.
8. Conduct terminal cleaning using UV machines in operating rooms, patient rooms, and public areas, including the use of pre-programmed electronic tablets for initiating timed UV cleaning cycles and data collection.

Additional Duties
Perform other responsibilities as assigned by supervision.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED required. A minimum of 3 years of directly relevant job-related experience may substitute for the educational requirement.
Experience: At least 1 year of experience and/or successful completion of the DES Floor Tech training program is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
This role requires the ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic operations. Compliance with oral and written instructions is essential. Knowledge of floor stripping, waxing, and burnishing processes with minimal assistance is necessary. Familiarity with operating various equipment, such as high-speed buffers, extractors, wet vacs, pressure washers, and auto scrubbers, is required. Understanding of specific floor care processes and safe usage of various chemical agents (as per MSDS Sheets) is also crucial.
