Position Overview
The Floor Care Specialist is tasked with the comprehensive upkeep of both hard surface and carpeted areas within the facility. Utilizing specialized equipment, the technician will engage in various floor maintenance activities, including stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, extraction, and bonneting across multiple environments such as offices, patient rooms, classrooms, corridors, lobbies, entrances, stairwells, and public areas like cafeterias.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct preventative maintenance checks on all equipment before use.
- Secure the work area and display appropriate safety notices for others prior to commencing tasks.
- Execute floor care duties, which include routine mopping (both dry and damp), buffing, and burnishing on hard surface floors and stairwells.
- Perform vacuuming, shampooing, bonneting, and extraction of carpets, stairwells, and upholstery.
- Carry out wall cleaning and dusting tasks (high and low).
- Maintain cleanliness in restrooms and perform routine cleaning in offices and classrooms.
- Ensure the upkeep of floor care equipment.
- Conduct terminal cleaning using UV machines in operating rooms, patient rooms, and public areas, including the operation of pre-programmed electronic tablets for timed UV cleaning cycles and data collection.

Additional Duties
- Undertake other responsibilities as assigned by supervisory staff.

Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED is required. A minimum of 3 years of directly relevant experience may substitute for educational requirements.
- Experience: At least 1 year of experience and/or successful completion of the DES Floor Technician training program is mandatory.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficient in reading, writing, and performing basic arithmetic operations.
- Ability to follow basic oral and written instructions.
- Familiarity with floor stripping, waxing, and burnishing processes with minimal assistance.
- Knowledge of operating essential equipment such as high-speed buffers, extractors, wet vacs, pressure washers, and auto scrubbers.
- Understanding of specific floor care procedures and safe handling of various chemical agents (as per MSDS Sheets).
