Genser Energy is on the lookout for a seasoned Chief Financial Officer who will collaborate closely with the executive leadership team to facilitate the company's growth strategies and expansion initiatives throughout West Africa. The ideal candidate should possess the expertise and adaptability to manage a complex multi-country framework while thriving in a dynamic, entrepreneurial atmosphere that necessitates the establishment of robust financial structures, compliance protocols, and reporting systems to support ongoing development projects.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Direct the comprehensive financial operations and spearhead the finance department across various operational territories.
  • Offer strategic insights on financing approaches to ensure an optimal capital framework.
  • Assist the CEO and designated financial consultants in all capital acquisition endeavors in international markets.
  • Oversee the creation of financial models and aid in the preparation of information packages for capital raises and customer pricing discussions.
  • Ensure visibility and provide input on all customer, financing, and supplier agreements to guarantee financial viability and alignment with business objectives.
  • Deliver financial counsel, recommendations, and insights to challenge norms and bolster business operations, projects, resource allocation, and decision-making processes across the organization.
  • Work alongside the management team to assess opportunities for revenue growth, margin preservation, and strategic initiatives such as acquisitions and new business ventures.
Stakeholder Engagement & Investor Relations
  • Foster strong relationships with investment stakeholders, including lenders, equity investors, and capital markets.
  • Provide necessary information to assist the Board of Directors in strategic and governance decisions.
  • Manage relationships with auditors, financial institutions, and tax authorities to further the company's objectives and ensure compliance.
  • Oversee fund investments and collaborate with investment bankers to secure additional capital for expansion.
Financial Oversight and Reporting
  • Guarantee the accurate, compliant, and timely preparation and submission of all external and internal reports.
  • Lead the planning and execution of the annual budgeting process, ensuring alignment with the company's long-term objectives.
  • Manage the budget alongside actuals and periodic forecasts, focusing on key financial ratios and performance indicators while understanding deviations from plans.
  • Analyze the company's financial outcomes concerning profits, trends, costs, and budget compliance, communicating necessary actions to management teams.
  • Drive comprehensive performance evaluations, scenario planning, financial forecasting, and root-cause analysis to provide insights into business performance.
  • Ensure all financing and debt covenants are achievable, monitored, and met.
Operational Management
  • Support technical and finance teams at subsidiaries with periodic cost updates, inventory reviews, and operational performance assessments to enhance profitability and efficiency.
  • Assist the HR team with annual Human Capital Planning, compensation benchmarking, and strategic resource allocation exercises.
  • Lead innovative projects aimed at standardizing and simplifying core finance processes to enhance efficiency and support multi-country operations.
  • Ensure all accounting policies and systems are adequate for the company's growth trajectory.
Compliance and Governance
  • Establish rigorous financial controls and procedures to uphold high standards of internal governance.
  • Maintain a strong treasury function and oversee cash management.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Facilitate the smooth and timely completion of audits.
  • Develop and maintain an enterprise risk management framework to safeguard the company across its various markets.
Qualifications
  • Proven management and leadership capabilities with a track record of driving initiatives across the organization.
  • Strong financial planning, analysis, and management skills, along with pragmatic problem-solving and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Experience in building financial systems and infrastructure to support multi-country operations.
  • Ability to synthesize diverse inputs from various business segments and formulate sound business judgments.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related fields; Chartered Accountant, MBA, CFA, or equivalent preferred.
  • 14+ years of progressive experience in financial leadership roles, preferably in the energy or infrastructure sectors.
  • Deep understanding of auditing practices; experience in project finance and capital raising is advantageous.
