Position Overview

Primary Objective:

  • Accountable for the setup, functionality, and upkeep of natural gas pipeline systems, compression facilities, and associated field operations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, repair, service, and maintain valves, piping, and pipeline accessories, as well as generators, air compressors, pumps, gas compressors, and engines (reciprocating and turbine) as applicable.
  • Ensure the general maintenance, cleanliness, and upkeep of all company facilities and equipment, including the pipeline right-of-way.
  • Engage in planning for equipment shutdowns, maintenance, and outages.
  • Supervise construction and/or maintenance tasks conducted by external contractors, including monitoring of 811 one-call tickets.
  • Evaluate work completed by third-party contractors and construction teams.
  • Conduct pigging operations as required.
  • Execute compliance activities mandated by government regulations, including but not limited to: line patrols, road and railroad crossing inspections, and valve assessments.
  • Perform inspections and preventive maintenance on compression station engines and equipment.
  • Identify root causes of mechanical issues and failures, ensuring completion of necessary repairs.
  • Conduct minor electrical maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Operate equipment such as compressor engines and pumps within defined operational parameters.
  • Contribute to the development of project scopes and work plans.
  • Represent the organization during interactions with landowners, public officials, and at local meetings.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions while addressing safety and environmental concerns.
  • Provide detailed information to assist in the creation, planning, forecasting, and management of operational budgets.
  • Maintain records of company expenditures to aid in cash flow management, cost monitoring, and control.
  • Offer input for the development of operations and maintenance procedures, project scopes, and work plans.
  • Complete all necessary documentation and record-keeping.
  • Perform all tasks in compliance with company standards, procedures, regulatory, and company tariff requirements.
  • Communicate work activities to relevant parties.
  • Actively engage in safety programs and initiatives.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to personal safety, the safety of colleagues, the general public, and company assets.
  • Respond to call-outs and work overtime as necessary, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Operate and maintain various equipment (such as UTVs, ATVs, forklifts, skid steers, snow plows, etc.).
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Position Requirements

Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.

Education/Experience/Specific Knowledge:
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Proficient in the use of various hand tools.
  • Familiarity and experience in diagnosing mechanical issues.
Certifications/Licenses/Registrations:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license that meets company insurability requirements.
  • Will be required to achieve and maintain operator qualifications and may need to obtain certifications as necessary to perform specific job duties.
Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong focus on completing all assigned tasks safely and without incidents.
  • Basic computer skills (knowledge of MS Office, various operating systems, and ability to learn company software).
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, take direction from supervisors, adhere to work schedules, focus on details, and follow established protocols.
  • Ability to organize, plan, prioritize, document, and complete work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to operational excellence.
Physical Demands:
  • Position requires standing, walking, and sitting while working indoors or outdoors.
  • Must be able to consistently lift a minimum of 20 lbs., sometimes in awkward positions.
  • May need to lift (from floor to waist) and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • While performing the job, you will be required to lift and carry, pull or push, reach, squat, kneel, and/or climb ladders or stairs.
  • Physical dexterity, hand/grip strength, depth perception, and other physical attributes necessary for safe job performance.
  • Ability to use hand tools and equipment, with repetitive hand use requiring grasping and twisting motions.
  • Must be able to frequently enter confined spaces and work from elevated platforms, ladders, and walkways.
  • May periodically work in low-light areas.
  • Will work in areas with high noise levels (engines).
  • Will work in extreme temperatures, including inside compressor buildings.
  • Must adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines, including wearing full flame-resistant clothing.
Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to drive and work in all weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold.
  • Depending on location and workload, travel may be required.
  • Must reside within a reasonable distance from the reporting location.
  • May be required to carry a company-provided communication device to respond during both working and non-working hours.
Preferred Education/Skills/Experience:
  • Experience with gas compressor stations and pipeline operations.
  • Experience troubleshooting equipment and identifying process failures.
  • Familiarity with maintenance tracking database activities.
  • Knowledge of safe handling practices for flammable gases, liquids, and high/low pressure systems.

The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and background check prior to employment.

Compensation: Pay range: $42.00 per hour. This position includes a discretionary annual incentive plan. Job level and pay will be commensurate with experience and skill set.
