Job Summary

Cardinal Health is seeking a PRN Pharmacy Technician to join our team in a PRN Inpatient Pharmacy setting. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting our pharmacists in the daily operations of the pharmacy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist pharmacists in filling prescription orders as permitted by State Boards of Pharmacy.
  • Prepare medication for dispensing, packaging and shipment.
  • Take inventory, place orders, check in drugs and supplies, stock shelves and remove out of date items from the inventory.
  • Enter medical supply orders in pharmacy system.
  • Communicate with all customers (patients, clinics, care-givers, physicians) in an amicable and professional manner.
  • Process returned medications from the facility for credit or destruction.
  • Input patient data and prescription information into the pharmacy information management system.
  • Maintain knowledge of and abide by all applicable pharmacy laws and regulations.
Requirements
  • High school degree or equivalent preferred
  • State Pharmacy Technician license/registration required
  • National pharmacy technician certification if applicable
  • IV experience preferred
  • In-patient hospital pharmacy experience highly preferred
  • Flexibility in working schedule
  • Ability to work in a group
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required
  • Strong customer service skills required
  • Comfortable performing repetitive motions/tasks is required
  • Ability to manage several tasks at the same time; Ability to focus on tasks; Ability to evaluate operating conditions; Ability to exercise sound judgment
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology such as computers, smart phones and tablets
  • Applies acquired knowledge and skills to complete standard tasks
  • Readily learns and applies new information and methods to work in assigned area
  • Maintains appropriate licenses, training and certifications
Working Conditions

This job frequently communicates with customers to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment of all orders. The hourly range listed is an estimate. Pay at Cardinal Health is determined by multiple factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's geographical location, relevant education, experience and skills and an evaluation of internal pay equity.
