The Patient Care Technician (PCT) role within the University of Michigan Health-West is essential for delivering quality support across multiple healthcare settings. Flexibility is key, as the PCT may be required to assist at various locations, adapting to the unique needs of each site and its healthcare providers.

Position Overview:

The Patient Care Technician operates under the supervision of healthcare professionals, providing fundamental care to patients while aiding in the operational aspects of the practice.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Certification as a Nurse Aide or active enrollment in a health sciences program
  • Basic understanding of Medical Terminology, Anatomy, Physiology, and Patient Confidentiality
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification
  • Experience in a clinical environment
  • Completion of site-specific core competencies
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducting patient intake, including measuring vital signs and reviewing documentation
  • Performing specimen collection and Phlebotomy
  • Measuring and documenting vital signs and weight
  • Utilizing equipment for patient care
  • Implementing infection control protocols
  • Documenting patient information and care provided
  • Assisting with procedures and other assigned responsibilities
