Position Overview:

As a Cryptocurrency Mining Operations Technician, you will be integral to our facility, focusing primarily on maintenance and preventative maintenance tasks (70%) alongside IT troubleshooting (30%). This multifaceted role requires individuals who can foresee operational needs, think analytically, and deliver professional and confidential solutions to challenges. Ideal candidates will have a strong interest in hardware and technology, coupled with a diverse skill set that includes network management and electronics repair.

Key Responsibilities:

Support Services

  • Installation and upkeep of data center equipment, including high-performance servers and associated software/firmware.
  • Basic repair and maintenance tasks, such as replacing fans and power supplies, as well as installation and reinstallation processes.
  • Provide effective troubleshooting solutions and proactively identify potential issues.
  • Manage the receipt and shipment of data center equipment, ensuring prompt handling and installation.
  • Maintain accurate records and inventory, including the creation and upkeep of tracking spreadsheets and databases.

Maintain Hosting Environment

  • Conduct daily inspections of the facility to ensure compliance with operational standards.
  • Monitor pool data and communicate significant changes, identifying issues that may impact production.
  • Respond to and escalate equipment alarms as necessary.
  • Perform routine cleaning of server rooms.
  • Conduct inventory counts for essential components such as Ethernet cables, power cords, and other consumables.
  • Ensure all visitors adhere to health and safety regulations.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Be available for emergency on-call duties and shift work, including nights and weekends.
  • Assist in the development and refinement of Data Center procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of necessary licenses or permits for local driving.
  • Ability to lift and carry weights of 30-40 pounds.
  • Capability to walk long distances within the data center.
  • Tolerance for varying temperatures in the work environment.
  • Availability for rotational shifts, including evenings and weekends.

Required Skills & Equipment:

  • 1-3 years of experience in hardware troubleshooting, including PCs, motherboards, networks, and power supplies.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of routers, switches, and servers, with familiarity in assembling PCs or upgrading hardware/firmware.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and capacity to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Excellent physical condition and flexibility to work shifts and overnight.
  • Experience in data center operations or a fast-paced IT environment is preferred.
