Overview

The Family Services Coordinator is responsible for overseeing a team dedicated to providing, coordinating, and monitoring essential family services aimed at addressing issues related to child welfare, including abuse, neglect, and family dysfunction. This role involves supervising a group of 5-8 professionals, paraprofessionals, and administrative staff. The position is integral to the operations at DelDOT, supporting juvenile probation officers in their case management duties.

Key Responsibilities

The following are the primary responsibilities associated with this position: Allocate cases to team members; implement caseload management strategies; review case documentation and ensure treatment plans align with established social work standards and effectively address client needs. Facilitate individual and team meetings to review cases, identify challenges, manage workloads, and assess available resources; conduct performance evaluations for staff members. Provide orientation for new hires and continuous training on case management methodologies, policies, and procedures. Assess and compile reports on team performance in achieving program objectives; generate monthly statistics related to treatment activities, placements, and custody, along with other reports as required by management. Serve as a mediator to resolve challenges faced by staff in coordinating service plans that necessitate collaboration across divisions and agencies. Offer support and act as a resource for staff during crisis situations, including potential suicides, assaults, and cases of sexual abuse. May involve the need to isolate or physically manage youths exhibiting disruptive behavior. Be prepared to provide immediate guidance in emergency scenarios requiring urgent intervention.

Qualifications

Candidates for the Family Services Coordinator position should possess relevant education, training, and/or experience demonstrating proficiency in the following areas:

1. Candidates must meet at least one of the following criteria:
A minimum of four years of experience in professional health or human services. OR
A Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.

Additionally, candidates must fulfill the following requirements:

2. At least two years of experience in health or human services, focusing on family safety and welfare, including identifying challenges, setting goals, and connecting families with community resources.

3. A minimum of three years of experience in case management, including assessing, planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating services to meet individual human service needs.

4. Relevant coursework, training, and/or experience in staff supervision, which may involve leading and overseeing the work of others.
