Overview

The Family Services Coordinator plays a pivotal role in overseeing a dedicated team that provides, organizes, and monitors essential family support services aimed at addressing issues related to child welfare, family dynamics, and social challenges. This position involves supervising a team of 5-8 professionals, including paraprofessionals and administrative staff, within a structured environment focused on juvenile case management.

Key Responsibilities

The following are fundamental responsibilities expected of the Family Services Coordinator: Assign cases to team members; establish and maintain caseload management; review case histories and ensure treatment plans align with social work standards and effectively meet client needs. Facilitate individual and team meetings to discuss case progress, workload, and available resources; assess staff performance regularly. Conduct orientation sessions for new hires and provide ongoing training regarding case management principles, policies, and procedures. Analyze and prepare reports evaluating the unit's effectiveness in achieving program objectives; compile monthly statistics related to treatment activities, placements, and custody, along with other reports as requested by management. Serve as a mediator to resolve challenges faced by staff in coordinating service plans that require collaboration across divisions and agencies. Provide support and act as a resource for staff during crisis situations, including potential emergencies involving youth. This may involve physical intervention when necessary. Offer guidance in urgent situations that demand immediate attention.

Qualifications

Candidates for the Family Services Coordinator position should possess a combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates proficiency in the following areas:

1. Minimum Requirements: Four years of experience in professional health or human services. OR A Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.

Additional Qualifications:

2. Two years of experience in health or human services with a focus on family safety and welfare, including identifying challenges, barriers, and objectives; determining access to community resources; assisting families in securing necessary services; managing family conflicts, and facilitating crisis resolution.

3. Three years of experience in case management, including assessing, planning, developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating services to meet individual human service needs.

4. Relevant coursework, training, or experience in staff supervision, which may include leading and overseeing the work of others.
