Join a Pioneering Organization

Imagine being part of a team that creates and develops life sciences companies focused on groundbreaking technologies that revolutionize healthcare.

In the current healthcare landscape, traditional disease diagnosis often necessitates invasive methods, such as biopsies, which allow for direct examination of cellular and tissue health at the suspected site of illness. These invasive procedures can be costly and inconvenient for patients, often occurring only after symptoms arise, thus presenting significant challenges in delivering timely interventions when they are most effective.

About the Company

Flagship Labs 103, Inc. is an early-stage enterprise dedicated to constructing advanced technological and computational platforms aimed at pioneering the detection of cellular dynamics from minimally invasive biospecimens. Our goal is to connect individuals with the most effective interventions to prevent the onset and progression of diseases.

Founded by Flagship Pioneering, a leading innovation enterprise, we are committed to originating and nurturing companies that develop transformative technologies across healthcare, agriculture, and sustainability. Since our inception, we have successfully fostered over 100 scientific ventures, including notable companies.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled computational biologist to join our dynamic biotech team. The ideal candidate will be an experienced scientist passionate about advancing cutting-edge techniques to detect cellular dynamics from minimally invasive biospecimens. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to the development of our innovative bioplatform.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop computational methodologies to analyze and contextualize signals from extracellular vesicles derived from human biospecimens.
  2. Conduct multi-omic analyses of human biospecimens and associated datasets.
  3. Gather, evaluate, and utilize public data to understand early disease transitions from minimally invasive biospecimens.
  4. Assist in the design and analysis of data from cellular biology experiments to support critical hypotheses.
  5. Maintain up-to-date scientific and technical knowledge through continuous engagement with scientific literature.
  6. Collaborate with Contract Research Organizations (CROs) and external partners.
  7. Effectively communicate experimental findings through presentations and written reports, ensuring clarity and precision in information dissemination to the team.
  8. Lead, mentor, and help build a computational team.

Qualifications

  1. PhD in computational biology, systems biology, bioinformatics, computer science, or related fields with 2-4 years of industry or postdoctoral experience.
  2. Proficient in standard and advanced computational support for wet-lab experimental design.
  3. Hands-on experience with modern machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  4. Familiarity with NGS approaches and proven ability to collaborate with experimental biologists.
  5. Experience in analyzing -omics data using programming languages like R or Python.
  6. Knowledge of statistical inference and machine learning techniques.
  7. Ability to manage multiple projects independently and collaboratively within a dynamic team environment.
  8. Excellent communication skills for presenting results and scientific data.
  9. Detail-oriented, adaptable, and inquisitive.
  10. Enthusiastic about playing a crucial role in establishing a new biotech company.
