Overview of the Infectious Disease and Microbiome Program (IDMP):
The Infectious Disease and Microbiome Program (IDMP) is on the lookout for an experienced Group Leader in Computational Biology to spearhead research projects that investigate the interactions between hosts and microbiomes across various health scenarios. The selected individual will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team that focuses on computational analysis, microbiology, and immunology. This role involves close collaboration with computational and experimental biologists, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and staff scientists. The primary responsibility will be to direct, strategize, and execute innovative approaches for analyzing large-scale multi-omic datasets, with the goal of identifying critical microbes, genes, or microbial elements that influence human health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement collaborative research studies of diverse scales.
- Demonstrate innovation through the development of novel methodologies.
- Oversee and mentor scientists at various stages of their careers.
- Prepare publications, secure funding, and write comprehensive reports.
- Keep an updated repertoire of computational techniques.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
- 4-5 years of postdoctoral or relevant industry experience in computational biology, preferably with an emphasis on human microbiome research.
- Proficiency in at least one statistical or scripting language suitable for large-scale data analysis.
- Familiarity with functional genetic and/or genomic data, supported by a strong publication record.
- Ability to communicate scientific concepts clearly and collaborate effectively.
