Job Description:
JOB DUTIES:
Respond to depredation, disease, injured, and nuisance wildlife complaints. Assist the general public with information on wildlife questions and issues. Interact with and provide information to hunters about regulations and seasons. Working odd hours in adverse weather conditions, including early mornings, late nights, and weekends are expected.
Also assist with operations and maintenance of wildlife management areas:
fencing, prescribed fire, habitat improvement practices, and assistance with deer check stations.
REQUIREMENTS:12 semester hours or the equivalent of post high school coursework/training in fisheries management, natural resources and/or biology OR 6 months experience in wildlife/recreation or fisheries management.
OTHER:
Driver's license is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, &
ABILITIES:
Knowledge of and ability to operate tractors, trailers, all-terrain vehicles (ATV's), chainsaws, farm equipment, firearms, and knives. Basic knowledge of wildlife management principles, big game animal behaviors, and hunting background is highly desirable. Computer skills (MS Word, Access, Excel) highly desirable.
