This role is pivotal in ensuring the development and maintenance of the local Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001 and other relevant standards, including Pressure Vessel Codes. The position oversees Quality Assurance operations at SGL Carbon, adhering to all applicable laws, regulations, and cutting-edge technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing quality strategies to confirm that products meet specifications, facilitating the implementation of preventative measures to eliminate errors, and documenting all quality initiatives.
  • Enhancing administrative workflows within the quality department.
  • Coordinating and refining testing procedures during Incoming Inspection, Production, and Final Inspection, focusing on product quality, testing outcomes, and resource allocation.
  • Providing assistance to shop supervisors, personnel, and design engineers on quality-related matters.
  • Advising on non-conforming materials and products in collaboration with the Quality Manager and Production Manager.
  • Collecting, organizing, and analyzing material and product data from ongoing production to mitigate quality issues; aiming to reduce scrap and rework while striving for continuous improvement in product quality and minimizing Costs of Poor Quality (COPQ).
  • Assisting in the calculation and reporting of COPQ, quality concerns, complaints, audit actions, enhancements, and other quality-related topics on a monthly basis in partnership with the Quality Manager and Production Manager.
  • Managing customer and supplier complaints regarding quality, packaging, and logistics by coordinating all necessary actions until resolution.
  • Facilitating the alignment of testing and quality activities with customers and suppliers; aiding in the preparation of Quality Assurance and Quality Management Agreements.
  • Contributing to the maintenance and enhancement of local Quality Assurance in close collaboration with the Quality Manager.
  • Reporting both functionally and disciplinarily to the Quality Manager.
  • Assisting in the planning, preparation, and execution of internal and external System and Process Audits, as well as Supplier Audits; supporting the organization and participation in external audits as required, and following up on audit actions to verify effectiveness.
  • Supporting the planning, execution, and follow-up of new supplier approvals (Supplier Capability Analysis).
  • Acting as the local point of contact and coordinator for the management of quality documentation; overseeing local controlled documents and records in collaboration with the Quality Manager.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering).
  • 0 to 2 years of experience in Quality Control.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, quality assurance, and testing methodologies.
