Process Equipment Mechanical Engineer

The successful applicant will be tasked with the creation of General Arrangement Drawings as well as intricate design schematics (both 2D and 3D) for a variety of process machinery. This role encompasses conducting thorough mechanical strength assessments and compiling all requisite Bills of Materials (BOM) along with other pertinent documentation. The candidate will also be responsible for drafting technical specifications and purchase requisitions, as well as evaluating relevant bids to facilitate the procurement process. Ensuring the timely and accurate fabrication of steel components at subcontractors is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design of process machinery utilizing 2D/3D CAD systems (AutoCAD, Solid Edge) in alignment with specific design standards and project requirements.
  • Conduct mechanical strength calculations in accordance with local regulations (e.g., EN, ASME, CODAP) for process machinery.
  • Develop general assembly drawings that adhere to established drafting and design standards.
  • Create detailed design drawings, including the preparation of associated BOMs and entering them into SAP.
  • Oversee the approval and release process for drawings and BOMs.
  • Draft technical specifications for steel components for inquiries, analyze corresponding bids, and collaborate with procurement to place orders.
  • Coordinate with fabrication teams on the shop floor to continuously gather feedback for enhancing equipment design for cost-effective manufacturing.
  • Engage with the global CAD engineering team.
  • Provide international support for CAD engineering initiatives.
  • Offer technical guidance and consultation for customer orders, liaising directly with clients and component suppliers as necessary.
  • Manage resource allocation for work packages.
  • Assist product managers in standardizing process equipment.
  • Prepare Equipment Layout Drawings for systems and plants.
  • Draft P&IDs based on revised drafts.
  • Support the I&C department by preparing electrical documentation.
  • Drive innovation and further development of products.

Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Proficient in mechanical design of process equipment.
  • Experienced in mechanical strength calculations per local codes (e.g., ASME).
  • Skilled and enthusiastic user of CAD software in both 2D and 3D (AutoCAD, Solid Edge, SolidWorks).
  • Familiar with MS Office applications (Word, Excel) and basic SAP functionalities.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Focused on cost-effectiveness, quality, and efficiency in equipment design.
  • Experience related to equipment manufacturing.
  • Preferred experience with electrical schematics, piping, and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Open-minded towards complex design engineering challenges and evolving requirements.
  • Possess structured and professional work habits.
  • Able to work effectively under time constraints.
  • Experience managing mechanical design projects and production orders within set timelines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
