Component Assembly Technician

Job Summary:

The Component Assembly Technician plays a crucial role in the fabrication of parts and assemblies according to detailed specifications.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Fabricates components by assembling various parts and subassemblies.
  • Aligns and positions components and parts, utilizing both manual techniques and fixtures.
  • Employs hand tools and machinery to assemble components effectively.
  • Performs quality assurance checks to ensure standards are met.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of the workspace and equipment, including tools.
  • Prepares for assembly tasks by reviewing parts lists and gathering necessary components, tools, and materials.
  • Positions parts and subassemblies accurately by using templates or interpreting measurements.
  • Assembles components by checking connections for proper fit and securing parts and subassemblies.
  • Confirms specifications by measuring completed assemblies.
  • Ensures equipment functionality by completing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating repairs.
  • Upholds a safe and tidy work environment by adhering to established procedures and regulations.
  • Manages inventory by monitoring stock levels, placing orders, and confirming receipt of materials.
  • Optimizes resource use by utilizing equipment and supplies efficiently to achieve production goals.
  • Documents activities by filling out production and quality assurance forms.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
  • Good physical stamina and strength.
  • Commitment to safety management.
  • Attention to quality control processes.
  • Excellent dexterity and hand-eye coordination, capable of handling small parts and components.
  • Color vision may be necessary for specific electronic products.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, blueprints, and assembly instructions is preferred.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is essential.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds as needed.
