Job Overview

The Mpls Heart Found is seeking a dedicated Research Scientist I to contribute to our mission of advancing cardiovascular research. This role involves providing scientific expertise and technical support to enhance investigator-initiated research (IIR). The Research Scientist will collaborate with various research teams to ensure the successful execution of high-quality studies, leading to impactful data presentations and publications.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver analytical and technical support for research initiatives.
  2. Play a vital role in grant proposal development, including research design and methodology, while compiling relevant literature and drafting significant sections of proposals.
  3. Facilitate the dissemination of research findings through manuscript preparation and presentations at both local and national forums. Lead teams in manuscript submissions, providing guidance on authorship, data presentation, journal selection, and content oversight.
  4. Offer comprehensive writing and editorial assistance across various projects, aligning with organizational goals, including grant applications, peer-reviewed articles, and internal communications.
  5. Foster collaborative relationships with investigators and researchers, providing tailored consultation to meet diverse needs and backgrounds.
  6. Oversee research activities and manage projects of varying complexity, demonstrating independence in time management and prioritization.

Qualifications:

Required:

  1. Master's degree (doctorate preferred) or equivalent experience in a relevant medical field (e.g., physiology, pharmacology, epidemiology, biostatistics, public health) with a minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience.
  2. Proven track record of publications in medical sciences.
  3. Solid understanding of statistical methods, with experience in healthcare data analysis and reporting.
  4. Proficient in computer applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and online medical library search engines like PubMed, as well as citation management tools.
  5. Exceptional interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively in a team-oriented environment, often in a virtual setting.
  6. Ability to manage multiple projects effectively and work autonomously.
  7. Meticulous attention to detail.
  8. Demonstrated medical writing expertise, including experience as the lead author on peer-reviewed publications.
  9. Experience contributing to healthcare-related grant applications or research proposals, covering methods/design, project timelines, and data analysis.
  10. Strong communication skills, with experience presenting research outcomes to both professional and general audiences.
  11. Commitment to multi-disciplinary and collaborative research approaches.
  12. Capacity to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines.

Preferred:

  1. Experience in cardiovascular research.
  2. Interest in conceptualizing and developing innovative research projects.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods.
