About the Position
The Department of Radiology at the University of Minnesota is seeking a dedicated scientist to join a collaborative research initiative focused on developing a non-invasive magnetic resonance imaging technique aimed at exploring human brain metabolism. This innovative project utilizes the ultra-high field 10.5 T whole-body human MRI scanner and a novel dynamic deuterium to proton exchange MRS approach.
Qualifications
Required:
- PhD in physics, chemistry, biophysics, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, computer science, neuroscience, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in acquiring and analyzing magnetic resonance spectra or images.
- A solid record of scientific publications.
Preferred:
- Experience in obtaining MRI or MRS data from human subjects.
- Familiarity with MR spectroscopy data acquisition and analysis.
- A commitment to collaborative research and teamwork across departments.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience working with research participants and/or clinical patients.
Duties and Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of this role includes the development, testing, and validation of various imaging sequences in healthy volunteers using the 10.5 T scanner. Additional responsibilities encompass:
- Spectral processing and critical analysis of data quality.
- Data archiving and summarizing results.
- Preparing manuscripts and presentations.
- Collaborating with team members and external partners.
- Mentoring students and engaging in research and scholarly activities.
