Position Overview

The Mpls Heart Found is seeking a dedicated Research Scientist I to contribute to our mission of advancing cardiovascular research. This role is pivotal in delivering scientific expertise and technical guidance to support investigator-initiated research (IIR). The Research Scientist will collaborate closely with investigators and research teams to ensure the execution of high-quality research, leading to impactful data presentations and publications in esteemed medical forums and peer-reviewed journals.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Offer technical and analytical assistance for various research initiatives.
  2. Play a significant role in grant proposal development, including crafting research designs and compiling supporting literature.
  3. Facilitate the dissemination of research findings through manuscript preparation and presentations at both local and national levels. Lead teams in manuscript submissions, providing expert guidance on authorship, data presentation, and journal selection.
  4. Provide comprehensive writing and editorial support for a range of projects aligned with organizational goals, including grant applications and peer-reviewed articles.
  5. Foster collaborative relationships with researchers by offering tailored consultation that respects diverse needs and backgrounds.
  6. Oversee research activities and manage projects of varying complexity, demonstrating independence in time and workload management.

Qualifications:

Required:

  1. Master's degree (PhD preferred) or equivalent experience in a relevant medical field (e.g., physiology, pharmacology, epidemiology) with a minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience.
  2. Proven track record of publications in the medical sciences.
  3. Familiarity with statistical methods and experience in healthcare data analysis.
  4. Proficient in computer applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and online medical databases such as PubMed.
  5. Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong ability to collaborate effectively in team settings.
  6. Capability to manage multiple projects and work autonomously.
  7. Meticulous attention to detail.
  8. Demonstrated medical writing proficiency, including experience as a lead author for peer-reviewed publications.
  9. Experience contributing to healthcare-related grant applications, including project design and data analysis.
  10. Strong communication skills, with experience presenting research to both professional and lay audiences.
  11. Commitment to collaborative and multidisciplinary research efforts.
  12. Ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines.

Preferred:

  1. Experience in cardiovascular research.
  2. Interest in innovative research methodologies.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
