Position Overview:
This role is a semi-autonomous, project-focused research scientist position within a laboratory dedicated to exploring cell signaling, protein kinase regulation, myeloid-cell activation, autoimmune disorders, and tumor-associated macrophages.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Research Development: Design and execute a semi-independent research project while performing essential experimental tasks under the guidance of the principal investigator. This includes techniques such as subcloning, cell culture, immunoblotting, and flow cytometry. Utilize critical thinking to fully grasp the objectives and methodologies required for successful experiment completion. Independently address challenges that arise during experiments, applying knowledge in molecular biology and immunology to support ongoing research initiatives.
  • Lab Participation: Engage in lab organization, manage orders, and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure a smooth operational flow.
  • Mouse Colony Management: If involved in projects utilizing mouse models, contribute to discussions regarding mouse colony upkeep and assist in breeding and weaning project-specific mice.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and scientific training to junior scientists and, if desired, undergraduate researchers.

Qualifications:
Essential Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in biological sciences.
  • Experience in predoctoral or postdoctoral research within fields such as cell signaling, immunology, autoimmunity, cancer biology, or biochemistry.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, a positive demeanor, and a thoughtful approach to experimental design and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated scientific integrity, a robust work ethic, eagerness to learn new techniques, adaptability to change, and a passion for scientific discovery.
  • A strong interest in the intersection of immune signaling, autoimmunity, and cancer biology.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in predoctoral or postdoctoral research utilizing methods such as immunoblotting, flow cytometry, mouse models of cancer or autoimmunity, mouse breeding and handling, molecular cloning, and mammalian cell culture with sterile techniques.
  • Familiarity with software tools like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Graphpad Prism, and Microsoft Office.
