Customer Service Support Representative Job Description

LabCorp is seeking a highly skilled Customer Service Support Representative to join our team in Birmingham, AL. This role will involve working with physician offices, hospital laboratories, patients, and internal customers to ensure that all client needs are addressed accurately and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a liaison between LabCorp, the customer base, and patients to resolve routine customer requests and provide product education.
  • Speak with customers in a courteous, friendly, and professional manner using protocol procedures.
  • Qualify and establish inbound new customers requesting LabCorp's products and services.
  • Work in multiple databases to research complex issues and questions.
  • Notify clients of test results in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Review test forms for accuracy and report any discrepancies.
  • Participate in activities designed to improve customer satisfaction and business performance.
  • Perform administrative support for medical record management, CRM data maintenance, and internal records to assure HIPAA compliance.
  • Receive and sort clinical lab specimens.
  • Prepare specimens for testing and analysis.
  • Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information.
  • Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot any specimen-related issues.
  • Replenish test bench supplies as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested.
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in a laboratory environment is preferred.
  • Comfortability with handling biological specimens.
  • Ability to accurately identify specimens.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills.
  • Strong communication skills; written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently or within a team environment.
  • Well-organized and a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must pass a standardized color blindness test.
