Position Overview:
Mountain View Hospital is seeking an Accounts Receivable Specialist to enhance our financial team.

JOB SUMMARY:
This role involves managing all tasks associated with the collection of outstanding accounts. The specialist will establish payment plans with patients to ensure timely collections and maintain patient accounts from billing through to payment receipt. It is essential to document every account interaction and process refunds in accordance with established policies. The position also includes assisting fellow billing clerks with various tasks as required.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Gather necessary information to complete the billing process, including charge details from healthcare providers.
2. Accurately code procedures and diagnoses for billing purposes.
3. Input charge data into the billing software and generate invoices.
4. Record payments received from insurance providers and patients.
5. Prepare and document bank deposits, including photocopying checks for system entry.
6. Follow up on accounts until they reach a zero balance or are referred for collections.
7. Provide assistance with coding and resolving billing errors.
8. Respond to billing inquiries and assist patients with their account information.
9. Review explanation of benefits (EOBs) and ensure accounts are settled per contractual agreements.
10. Organize and file correspondence, maintaining an orderly system.
11. Process non-clinical appeals and request medical records as necessary.
12. Manage rebilling of claims and communicate with responsible parties for additional information.
13. Handle insurance denials and process them weekly.
14. Identify problematic accounts and escalate claims processing delays to management.
15. Keep updated with payer bulletins and educational resources to ensure compliance with regulations.
16. Maintain patient confidentiality at all times and adhere to company policies regarding payment security.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must possess CPC certification.
- One to three months of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience.

Skills Required:
- Proficient in clinic billing systems and basic computer operations.
- Strong ability to read and interpret various documents, including patient statements and procedural manuals.
- Capable of writing routine reports and communicating effectively in group settings.
- Mathematical proficiency for calculations involving rates, ratios, and percentages.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to follow detailed instructions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members.
