Role Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement training programs for compliance-related activities.
  • Uphold and promote the positive aspects of our company culture, including employee ownership, work-life balance, collaborative problem-solving, and engaging events.
  • Collaborate with the COO to interpret and clarify human resources policies, procedures, and regulations; stay informed about Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and affirmative action laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Administer various HR policies and procedures for team members.
  • Maintain and update the employee handbook.
  • Propose new strategies, policies, and procedures to enhance departmental efficiency and service delivery.
  • Assist in the formulation and execution of HR policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to the development of HR department goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the performance evaluation process and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Provide support to managers regarding employee relations issues, including grievances and complaints.
  • Conduct investigations related to harassment and workers' compensation claims.
  • Manage the full recruitment cycle for all positions, including onboarding and career development programs.
  • Organize and maintain employee documentation.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an HR Specialist or Generalist.
  • Self-motivated and innovative HR professional with a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities.
  • Experience in benefits administration is required.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is necessary; advanced training is preferred.
  • HR experience in the construction sector is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Cal/OSHA standards is a plus.
  • Experience with worker ownership or ESOP is preferred.
  • General knowledge of California employment laws and practices.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and skilled in planning special events.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Google Suite.
  • Ability to type at least 50 words per minute.
