Role Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement training programs for compliance-related activities.
- Uphold and promote the positive aspects of our company culture, including employee ownership, work-life balance, collaborative problem-solving, and engaging events.
- Collaborate with the COO to interpret and clarify human resources policies, procedures, and regulations; stay informed about Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and affirmative action laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Administer various HR policies and procedures for team members.
- Maintain and update the employee handbook.
- Propose new strategies, policies, and procedures to enhance departmental efficiency and service delivery.
- Assist in the formulation and execution of HR policies and procedures.
- Contribute to the development of HR department goals and objectives.
- Oversee the performance evaluation process and make adjustments as necessary.
- Provide support to managers regarding employee relations issues, including grievances and complaints.
- Conduct investigations related to harassment and workers' compensation claims.
- Manage the full recruitment cycle for all positions, including onboarding and career development programs.
- Organize and maintain employee documentation.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an HR Specialist or Generalist.
- Self-motivated and innovative HR professional with a strong sense of responsibility.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities.
- Experience in benefits administration is required.
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is necessary; advanced training is preferred.
- HR experience in the construction sector is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Cal/OSHA standards is a plus.
- Experience with worker ownership or ESOP is preferred.
- General knowledge of California employment laws and practices.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and skilled in planning special events.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Google Suite.
- Ability to type at least 50 words per minute.
