Position Overview
This is a National Guard Title 32 Excepted Service role.

This position is for a WG/10 AVIATION MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST (TITLE 32), and is part of the Army National Guard Units.


Appointment Details:
This is an Indefinite Excepted Service position and falls under a bargaining unit. Please refer to the conditions of employment below for further details.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough inspections, functional assessments, and preventive maintenance on designated aircraft.
- Execute checks on hydraulic, electrical, transmission, and power systems.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform unscheduled maintenance on both assigned and transient aircraft.
- Carry out a comprehensive range of repairs and testing on aircraft systems, assemblies, and surfaces.
- Install, align, and adjust major components and assemblies as necessary.
- Perform ground functional tests of all aircraft systems.
- Launch and recover both assigned and transient aircraft, ensuring inspections are completed prior to takeoff.
- Undertake additional duties as required.

Requirements and Qualifications:
Military Requirements:
Compatible military grade and assignment are necessary prior to placement.

This position requires membership in a compatible military assignment within the National Guard.

Candidates not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership.

If unsure about eligibility for military membership, please consult a National Guard recruiter.

The selected candidate must be in a compatible military assignment before the effective date of placement and must achieve MOS qualification within 12 months of appointment.

General Experience:

Applicants must possess general experience, education, or training that has equipped them with the skills to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments according to established specifications.

Proficiency in using hand tools and testing equipment is essential.

Specialized Experience:

Applicants must have at least 18 months of specialized experience encompassing the full spectrum of aircraft maintenance duties, including troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repair, and ground testing of assemblies, systems, and surfaces for various military aircraft, both fixed and rotary wing.

Experience should include repairing, rebuilding, or overhauling aircraft systems and major components using industry-standard tools; aligning, adjusting, and rigging systems and controls after part replacements; operating various measurement, testing, and diagnostic equipment for troubleshooting and repair; inspecting mechanical systems with the ability to analyze problems and recommend corrective actions; and utilizing a wide range of technical publications, including complex schematics and specifications.


Additional Information:

This position may be filled at the WG-08 trainee grade or the target grade of WG-10. Candidates selected at the trainee grade will have the potential for promotion to the target grade without further competition.

Promotion to the full operating/journeyman level will occur once qualifications and eligibility requirements are met, and the incumbent is performing satisfactorily at the higher level.
