Key Responsibilities:

As an Aviation Security Specialist, you will be trained for various roles, ensuring compliance with local and federal regulations. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Reporting any actual or potential breaches of airport security
  • Maintaining professional communication protocols
  • Responding to alarms and emergencies, coordinating with airport stakeholders and first responders
  • Controlling access to secured areas within the airport
  • Verifying identification and access badges for individuals entering secured zones
  • Conducting vehicle inspections and managing access in designated areas
  • Patrolling both airside and landside areas, including parking lots and construction sites
  • Providing crowd control and assisting the traveling public with professionalism
  • Documenting all incidents and discrepancies in written reports

Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will be proactive self-starters with the ability to maintain awareness and vigilance in a dynamic airport setting.

To qualify for this position, you must obtain Airport Badging, which involves a comprehensive background check as mandated by the Department of Homeland Security. This includes a 10-year verifiable background check covering criminal history, employment, credit, education, and personal references. You must also pass a Security Threat Assessment conducted by the Transportation Security Administration.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Possession of a valid State Security License
  • Valid State of Florida Driver's License
  • Able to operate inspection equipment and interpret visual signals
  • Ability to hear and respond to audible alarms
  • Physically capable of performing required inspections and handling baggage
  • Proficient in radio and telephone communication
  • Proof of legal right to work in the United States
  • Effective communication skills in English (reading, writing, speaking)
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Successful completion of all training classes and exams
  • Willingness to participate in drug and alcohol testing
  • Access to reliable transportation

Additional Qualifications:

  • One year of law enforcement or military experience with honorable discharge
  • Associate's degree or higher from an accredited institution
  • Three years of security experience

Work Environment:

This role involves both indoor and outdoor work, with exposure to various environmental factors. Candidates must possess sufficient visual and auditory abilities, and be capable of physical tasks such as lifting and standing for extended periods.
