Moffatt & Nichol is seeking a skilled Marine Structural Engineer with 4 to 8 years of relevant experience.

Location: Opportunities available in various offices.

The ideal candidate will possess the ability to deliver engineering, planning, design, analysis, and construction services for waterfront, port, and maritime infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with senior engineers and managers to generate calculations, reports, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and other necessary deliverables for large-scale projects.
  • Assist in proposal development, project initiation, team coordination, quality management, progress tracking, and client communication.
  • Lead structural analysis, modeling, capacity calculations, and the preparation of calculation reports.
  • Oversee the design and detailing of waterfront structures, including materials such as concrete, steel, and timber.

Project Types:

  • NAVFAC Pacific SIOP projects, including dry docks and industrial buildings.
  • Offshore wind ports and pier facilities.
  • Vessel mooring and berthing structures.
  • Piers, wharves, bulkheads, and marinas.
  • Breakwaters and shore protection structures.

Conduct field investigations, site visits, and inspections to ensure compliance with contract documents and construction quality assurance.

Support the designer of record with construction-related services, including reviewing submittals and requests for information.

Mentor junior structural engineering staff and interns, contributing to quality control and assurance processes.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree (preferred) or Bachelor's degree (required) in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a Structural emphasis.
  • Professional Engineer license in California or eligibility to obtain it through reciprocity within 6 months of hire.
  • 4 to 8 years of experience in designing waterfront structural projects.
  • Eligibility to pass background checks required for Department of Defense access.

Compensation:

Base salary range is competitive and based on experience, education, and professional registration.

Working Conditions:

The majority of work will be office-based, with occasional site visits that may require navigating various terrains.
