POSITION OVERVIEW
Manson Construction Co. is seeking dedicated interns for full-time, seasonal positions as Field Engineers and Assistant Estimators.
Successful candidates will have the chance to gain valuable experience by rotating between both roles, working both on-site and in the office, which is essential for a comprehensive understanding of marine construction.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:- Assisting as a Field Engineer on Dredging or Construction projects
- Documenting daily activities of construction teams
- Comparing costs and implementations of completed work against initial estimates
- Tracking quantities
- Designing falsework
- Collaborating with project foremen and superintendents to develop work procedures
- Conducting hydrographic surveys for dredging operations
- Supporting estimating tasks
- Performing quantity takeoffs
- Interpreting job-specific and standard specifications
- Comparing subcontractor bids
- Creating engineers' estimates
- Scheduling jobs
- Designing falsework and equipment
- Analyzing costs

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Intern candidates should be actively enrolled in an accredited four-year college or university, pursuing a degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Ocean, or Coastal), Construction Management, or a related field.
CERTIFICATIONSA valid Driver's License and a clean driving record are required.
Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE) and current registration as an Engineer in Training is preferred.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required, along with basic knowledge of AutoCAD; experience with scheduling software is a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position is primarily field-based and will involve travel to various construction job sites.
Employees must be able to wear the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) required for different construction environments (hard hats, personal flotation devices, safety glasses, gloves, safety-toed shoes, respirators, etc.).
Employees are required to stand, walk, use stairs, ladders, and step stools, and reach with hands and arms.Employees must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. They must be able to navigate stairs, ladders, and gangways, and board, work on, and disembark from floating vessels and structures. The noise level may range from moderate to loud, and employees may be required to sit for extended periods.
