Position Overview:


Community Medical Services (CMS) is seeking a dedicated Substance Abuse Counselor to support individuals on their path to recovery from opioid and other substance dependencies.

Your role will involve conducting both individual and group therapy sessions, as well as collaborating with patients to develop effective treatment plans and coping mechanisms. Your contributions will create a nurturing environment for those embarking on their recovery journey.

Key Responsibilities:

We are looking for a candidate who:
• Is enthusiastic about working in an outpatient environment similar to a healthcare facility or behavioral health center.

To excel in this position, you must be capable of:

• Managing a caseload in accordance with regulatory standards and ratios.

• Conducting individual therapy sessions, leading group counseling, and delivering educational presentations.

• Completing thorough behavioral health evaluations and personalized treatment plans, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and addressing individual client needs.


• Assessing treatment effectiveness through continuous evaluation of the client and their support systems, which may lead to adjustments in the service plan.


• Coordinating care with other recovery and community service providers, engaging in case management activities such as referrals and maintaining necessary documentation for service acquisition and chart compliance.

• Involving family and natural supports in the client's treatment, based on the client's preferences.

• Staying informed about new developments in the field of substance use as required by state licensure.

• Maintaining professional relationships with other substance use professionals, programs, and associations.

• Keeping detailed and comprehensive client records.


• Acting as the primary contact for coordination and communication with other systems where clinical insights about the case are essential.

• Assisting in the screening and coordination of primary care services for clients.

Qualifications:
• A combination of ONE of the following education and licensure levels is required:
• Associate's degree with an active ADC-T license

• Bachelor's degree with an active LADC license

• Master's degree with an active LPC license
