Northstar Behavioral Health Network is a leading provider of behavioral health services, specializing in the treatment of substance use disorders, including Opioid Use Disorder and Stimulant Use Disorder. We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive assessments, group therapy, and individual therapy sessions to clients, adhering to our policies and procedures, as well as governing body standards.
  • Coordinate care with internal and external entities, including nursing, mental health providers, treatment coordinators, and peer recovery support specialists, to enhance client outcomes.
  • Participate in scheduled meetings, including clinical, multidisciplinary, and individual sessions.
  • Stay up-to-date with core competencies in co-occurring disorders through ongoing education and implement skills into all aspects of treatment.
  • Complete tasks assigned by supervisor, ensuring seamless delivery of services.
  • Monitor and maintain high client satisfaction rates, with an average of 4 or higher per month.
  • Ensure high outpatient group attendance rates, exceeding 90% (billable units) per track.
  • Implement compliance changes delivered by auditors within one week.
  • Maintain client retention rates above 50% per month.

Requirements:

  • Valid LADC/ADC-T licensure in the state of MN.
  • At least 1 year of experience in addiction counseling.
  • Comprehensive understanding of MN Statutes related to providing services for our population.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification or attainment within 30 days of employment.
  • Pass a background check.
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and Google Suite programs.
  • Familiarity with medication for opioid use disorder models (preferred).
  • Specialty training in DBT-SUD, CBT, MI, etc. (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Procentive, Electronic Health Record System (preferred).
