Job Overview

Position: Substance Abuse Assessment Specialist

Working Hours: 12:00 pm - 8:30 pm, 24 hours per week

Location: New Brighton, MN

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate the suitability of clients for admission to treatment programs.
  • Assess client eligibility for various treatment options.
  • Identify any concurrent conditions (medical, psychiatric, physical, etc.) that may hinder participation in treatment.
  • Conduct comprehensive chemical health assessments through interviews, both remotely and in community settings.
  • Collect pertinent client history, focusing on substance use and related behaviors through effective interviewing techniques.

  • Knowledge of co-occurring disorders
  • Ability to educate clients and their families
  • Adherence to documentation standards
  • Collaboration with other professionals regarding client care
  • Strong communication skills with team members, clients, and stakeholders
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships

Licensure Requirements:

  • Compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and agency policies related to substance abuse.
  • Maintain an active professional license.
  • Participate in all required training sessions.

Qualifications:

  • Current Minnesota State Licensure as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience is required, or a combination of education and experience that equips the candidate with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
