Telecommunications Field Technician

Travel/Shift Requirements:
- Willingness to travel extensively, potentially up to 75% of the time.
- Shift work may be required based on operational demands.
Under minimal supervision, the Level IV Technician will engage in a diverse range of field operations, encompassing both intermediate and advanced system tasks. This includes the installation, maintenance, and servicing of telecommunications equipment for various carriers. A comprehensive understanding of Central Office Installation and adherence to Quality Standards is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead various installation projects with precision.
- Interpret and analyze detailed specifications, drawings, blueprints, and method of procedures (MOPs).
- Execute frame and rack builds efficiently.
- Manage multiple cable types including coaxial, power, fiber, and network transmission; utilize various connectors and termination techniques.
- Terminate DC power systems, rectifiers, PDUs, and associated telecommunications infrastructure.
- Utilize RJ45 connectors for cable termination.
- Perform cleaning and inspection of fiber connectors, documenting light levels and readings with specialized testing equipment.
- Install cable management systems and create structured physical pathways for equipment and cabling.
- Conduct system tests to assess efficiency, reliability, and compatibility.
- Maintain detailed documentation of work performed and provide regular status updates.
- Act as the lead installer on projects as required.
- Strong technical knowledge of current network products with minimal training required.
- Completion of a formal "Basic Installation" training course or equivalent on-the-job training.
- Ability to read and comprehend technical documentation.
- Proven knowledge of product installation phases.
- Familiarity with installation standards from major telecommunications companies.
- Experience with significant carriers and major OEM equipment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong customer interaction abilities.
- Proficient in using various computing devices and software platforms.
- Adaptability to changing work environments.
- Valid Driver's License is mandatory.
- Capability to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Ability to work outdoors, on ladders, and in confined spaces.
- Comfortable working with electrical systems and ESD products.
- Willingness to work remotely at installation sites.
- Physical agility to stoop, kneel, bend, climb, lift, pull, and push.
- Electronics training equivalent to 2 years of technical trade school or military training, coupled with 6 years of field service experience.
- A minimum of 3 years as a Level III Installer is typically required.
- Experience in Central Office Installation.
- Proficiency in the relevant network systems.
- Successful completion of the Level IV Skill Level assessment.
